John Abraham's sporting skills put to test...

John Abraham is less nervous and more excited about the fact that his sporting skills are being put to their ultimate test. The handsome actor is presently in London, shooting for Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal in which he plays a footballer.
Before shooting the film John and his co-star Arshad Warsi underwent rigorous training in football under the guidance of former English Premiere league footballer Andy Ansah and now, when the shooting is on, John’s footballing skills are being put to test because eight of the eleven players in his team (in the film) are actual football players and John has to stand out from them because of his role in the movie. But John is not intimidated by the presence of real footballers in his team. Football is his favourite game and he has been playing it since childhood. He is quite skilled in dribbling, nudging and kicking the ball.John says he is “overexcited” while shooting the film. Even his ladylove Bipasha Basu is beside him.

A script that made John Abraham cry!

The script of Nagesh Kukunoor’s forthcoming movie touched actor John Abraham so deeply that he broke down after reading it.Despite being one of the sought-after stars in Bollywood, John is pretty open to arty films that don’t exactly fit into the Bollywood mainstream bracket. He has already done Kabul Express (with Kabir Khan) and has completed the shooting of Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking .

Now, John as signed Nagesh Kukunoor ’s next movie Aashayein (Hopes) in which he plays a gambler. The film tells the story of a man who gambles his time and life away until he learns that he has very little time left to live. Kukunoor first narrated the story idea to John on a telephone when John was promoting ‘Water’ in Los Angeles. On the phone itself, John was so impressed by the movie’s concept that he gave his consent to Kukunoor. Later, when John read the movie’s script, he was so emotionally moved that he broke down while reading it. And it is learnt that John has read the script as many as five times and every time he was driven to tears. John will first complete Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal in London, before starting to shoot for ‘Aashayein’. Kukunoor plans to shoot the movie in Pondicherry. He’s yet to finalize John’s heroine in the film.

Water Finally Sees The Light Of Day In India

'Water' finally received the green light from the censors and is all set to be released in India. A press conference was held in Mumbai last week as a pre-cursor to the movie release.
'Water' is one of the most successful Hindi language films in North America - it has already brought in 5.6 million dollars at the US box office after it played in 150 theatres - in recent years but for Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, an Indian release for 'Water', is something she has waited for a long time. ''I am thrilled that the film will finally be able to be seen by Indian audiences,'' Mehta said at a press meet in the Capital recently where B R Films, 'Water's distributors in India, announced the date of the film's India release ( 9th March).
The film whipped up much controversy in India when Mehta began its shooting in Varanasi seven years ago which led to protests by fundamentalists forcing her to suspend shooting and abandon the project.
Chopra, however, said his decision to take up the release of the film in India was not impelled by the film winning an Oscar nomination. On the reason for B R Films taking up the release of the film in India when no other distributor was willing to take it up, Chopra said,'' it is a very cute film, a beautiful love story. It is a film, which has won accolades and box office success galore in the US and in this sense made India proud in the West. This is all the more reason why I felt people in India should see this film.''

John Leaves For The Oscars With....?

The D Day for Water at the Oscars arrived and John flew to U.S to walk the red carpet on the night of the 25th of February with his mom. WAIT…did I say ‘with his mom’? Well apparently it is true that the actor has preferred to take his mom to the gala night than his long time girl friend Bipasa Basu who is otherwise always seen holding his arm. Of course there is nothing wrong with taking one’s mother, in fact it is appreciative. But to totally brushing of the importance of Bipasha puts his rapport with the Dhoom girl under question. Not that I have been made to think like that by the media but his comment forces one to draw such conclusions. “I am going to the Oscars with Mom to make my luck stronger with her blessings. Bipasha is busy with her work, and why do you want her to come with me?”

John Not to Marry Soon!..

Bollywood hunk John Abraham has no plans yet to marry longtime girlfriend, sex-symbol Bipasha Basu, the actor said. While Bollywood’s golden couple Aishwarya Rai and Abishek Bachchan announced their engagement last month, the industry's other hottest couple have no plans to tie the knot, Abraham told the Times of India in an interview published on Thursday.
“Marriage is not on the cards for me,” said the model-turned actor.
“I am going to be the last guy standing,” he added. John, 33, has been dating Bipasha, 27 for several years. Despite being voted consistently as one of Bollywood's sexiest stars in movie polls, John insists he is a regular guy “I might be branded a cool dude but you will never find me trying to act cool and saying things like 'Yo man, wassup?’,” he told the paper.
“At the end of the day I am a simple man, wear simple clothes and have simple needs,” John said.
