John's Charity Work

John Abraham has done alot of charity work. His mum is a social worker so he works with her to help children who have threatening diseases. I think it is a wonderful contribution that someone can make, when helping somone who is less fortunate than you are. All though most people always think that celebreties do it for self promotion, I personally do not believe that.

John Abraham's masti on streets of Morocco

John Abraham is currently in Morocco to shoot for the new Fastrack campaign, which will hit the telly soon. It is a languid sunny afternoon in the streets of Morocco. Enjoying his anonymity, John Abraham, sunglasses perched on his head, lazily strolls along, taking in the sights and sounds of a fruit market. The market is like a fantasy, filled with fresh, colourful fruits of every imaginable type being sold by dark-haired kohl-eyed beauties. John looks in no hurry to be anywhere else. He stops at the nearest apple cart. He gestures to the beautiful woman to pack him a few. She gives him the polite, professional smile and starts to pick out the fruits. As he waits, he lowers his sunglasses onto his face. Suddenly the woman drops the apples, vaults over her cart towards him, dramatically drapes herself around him and coos, “Bachao!” Before a startled John can react, another beauty comes running down the street, leaps over the fallen apples, hides behind his back and whimpers “Bachao!” He turns around in confusion. A third beautiful woman, cycling by, shouts “Bachao!” Soon, heavily accented cries of “Bachao” from beautiful damsels in distress around him fill the air: A woman hiding behind a lamp post; s woman walking her dog; a woman on a terrace overlooking the market; women from the other fruit stalls; vendors; customers; passers by! John is in a daze. Confused onlookers look at him strangely. He shrugs at them. He has no idea why these women need saving and what he can do to help. He takes his sunglasses off and looks around. Suddenly the woman who started it all, the apple vendor, holds her wrist to her forehead (Nargis style) and whines “Naheeeeeen! She goes back to her apple cart. The cries stop. The women disperse. Life is back to normal. A knowing smile crosses his face as the gag dawns on him. He looks at the camera, shakes his head and mutters, “Heroines!”

John On Koffee with Karan Season 2..!

John Abraham. Don't miss this super-hot episode of Koffee with Karan, with Bollywood's super-sexy couple, John and Bipasha this Sunday, May 6th at 9 p.m. only on Star One and Star World.
Excerpts from the interview:
Karan Johar: When you have such a hot girlfriend... and like all kinds of people compliment her... think she's so sexy... has it ever bothered you? Any kind of irritation at times?
John Abraham: Well I think it's great... It's a compliment... ya... and she's got such long legs...

Karan Johar: So she can defend herself... and what about you Bipasha...women think of all kinds of obscene things when they think of him... does that bother you?
Bipasha Basu: I think its the business that we are in and the kind of personalities that we are.. and the kind of image that we keep... I think if that is not the reaction then there is something wrong.... I look at it very intelligently... the reason we are together was because at one point of time we must have found each other really attractive...that's why we firstly must've got hitched...It doesn't bother me.. I pretty think of myself very highly...

Karan Johar: I like that....that's very important..
Bipasha Basu: Ya.. There could be other women but there's no one like me

Karan Johar: And you agree with her John?
John Abraham: She's the original

Karan Johar: And everyone else is a copy?
John Abraham: No.. not really but she's the original...

Karan Johar: What about marriage? Is it a step ahead or is it something you are not giving any thought to?
Bipasha Basu: The kind of family background that I come from its very important. It's the most important institution. My parents are the most romantic people that you will ever find. So marriage is definitely very important but at this point of time I think I'm very young... maybe some few years...
John Abraham: Ya... Just work right now...

Karan Johar: Ok so John having fun... Enjoying your work ... loving Salman as well………?
John Abraham: Kya bolu abhi
Karan Johar: Bolo na
John Abraham: I don't know
Karan Johar: What happened?
John Abraham: If you ask me today also what the problem is, honestly, I don't know, but it's unfortunate that there is a problem.. And if things get ok.. It will be nice
Karan Johar: But what went wrong... you don't know
John Abraham: Honestly... I don't know... I ask her the same question every day
Karan Johar: There is a problem
John Abraham: But when we figure out... I will let you know
Karan Johar: Has there been a very awkward moment very recently?
John Abraham: Not really
Karan Johar: You just look right through each other...
John Abraham: Ahhh ...I think I used to say hello... but he is kind of upset with me... He is a senior...so I don't get into the way of things... it's important that I understand that I have come here to do work. I have not come here to make enemies. I don't want to get into the middle of any controversies.

John's Personal Life

John Abraham is currently dating the bengali beuty Bipasha Basu. His personal life has always been in the media and limelight leading to him and Bipasha being under pressure about their relationship. He does not like talking about his personal life and tells people that they can say and write whatever they want because at the end of the day he knows what is true.

Personal Impressions of John's Career...

Personally i think Johns career in the film industry has gone from strength to strength. He started of weak in his movies but gradually showed a great deal of acting ability. His strongest performance was in the hit movie Dhoom, where he rised to being a superstar overnight. John has had many roles ranging from being a thief, killer, lover, comedian, terrorist and musician. He has proved to his audiance that he can give a good performance and is choosing his movies roles more carefully and roles that allow him to show that he has that ability to act them. I think he will have a stable career in the future as long as he thinks twice before signing movies. lol.

There were many scenes in his movies that i have enjoyed seeing. My top five movies of him are : - Dhoom
- Garam Masala
- Baabul
- Jism
- Kaal

Life is being good to me:John

John Abraham who is a trained footballer and is a member of the Bombay District Football Association is having a great time on Vivek Agnihotri’s Goal. “I used to play A-division soccer in college. I was heavily into sports before I joined films, and Goal takes me back to those days. I’m having a ball,” says John. Once John returns from London, he goes straight into shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor’s next, Aashaayen. “We were supposed to start in June, but now we’ll go straight into that in May once I return. Then I’m doing Vikram Motwane’s film with Vidya Balan and there’s also Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar,” he asks. According to John he really doesn’t think too hard about his selection of films. “At the end of the day I just want to entertain. Whether it’s Goal or No Smoking, they’re all entertaining films with a message,” he says. “Life is being good to me. My last two films Baabul and Salaam-e-Ishq didn’t do too well in India, but Baabul was a big hit overseas. I refuse to see Kabul Express as a loser. It was made within a budget and was definitely a plus film. It did incredible business in Mumbai. I’d rather see my glass half full than half empty,” says John. Remind him that he isn’t doing any full-on commercial film, and John protests, “Arre, Goal is the best commercial script I’ve ever done. It’s a complete masala flick and you can quote me on that. Every member of the audience will enjoy it.”

John Abraham was discharged from Lilavati Hospital

Actor John Abraham was discharged on Tuesday evening from Lilavati Hospital, hospital sources said here on Wednesday. The actor, who hit a cycle, injuring two riders at Khar, was undergoing treatment for soft-tissue-injury on his left ankle and knee for three days.Deputy Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said the issue of the actor's arrest would be decided after preliminary investigations are completed. The actor was booked by the Khar police for rash driving. Khar police sources confirmed the actor has not been arrested

John flies in-but not for Abhi-Ash wedding

John Abraham is currently shooting for "Goal" in London and flew back into Mumbai on the day of the Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai wedding. Those who saw John emerging from the airport presumed he was there for the marriage Friday. But that's not why he was here.
He was in town to attend an event in Powai organised by a shampoo brand. He also stole time off to rush home to see his mother, who has been very ill in the last couple of months, before flying back in London to re-join the "Goal" unit.
Bipasha told IANS, "I joined John in Mumbai from Dubai where I'm shooting for Abbas-Mustan's 'Race'.
"I didn't return to Mumbai to be with John. Please! We spent more than enough time together in London for 'Goal'. We were both needed for the shampoo event. John really wanted to meet his mother. We barely got a chance to spend any time together. Before we knew it John was back in London and I am in Dubai."
This is one couple that believes in giving each other space. "I don't think there's any lack of time together. Any more would be unacceptable to both of us."

John Abraham and Ayesha Takia make Anurag work hard

Here is one prob that’s really strange. Director Anurag Kashyap is worried about his actors performing well. Apparently Kashyap says that his lead actor in No Smoking, John abraham, has really opened up tremendously as an actor and leading lady Ayesha Takia is proving to be a natural. And this has become a source of worry for him he now feels the onus of the film looking good finally will be on him, since nobody will blame his lead pair if the film doesn’t do well. All the more reason for Anurag to work extra hard, what say folks?

Salman on John!

Diplomacy is something that Salman Khan has never handled well. He recently showed his disapproval for John “politically correct” Abraham. “He keeps calling me his senior as if I were some kind of dinosaur. We don't talk to each other, beyond a ‘hello' when we meet,” says Salman. Needless to say, the two stars, since their fall-out during a world tour, have been cold about each other contrary to the rumour that they have been patched up.

Bipasa Basu and John Abraham- a picture perfect moment

Bipasa Basu and John Abraham look perfectly at ease letting each other have their own personal space and also being together. It was just another good moment for both of them but a very special moment for two other souls who had won the Clinic All Clear Cruise with Me Contest. Zubin and Namitha were the lucky ones to date the two hot and happening people of Bollywood. It is not always that one gets to date outside a relationship! It is a pleasure to see Bipasa and John making the world feel ‘J’ about them.

John Abraham on Big Boss

Bigg Boss is getting more and more popular! First time to their relief the inmates of Bigg Boss house got some entertainment from outside. Of course the inmates are entertainment for each other too, but someone entered the house to entertain the entertainers. And this someone was none other than John Abraham. The housemates turned the house into sher-e-Bigg Boss - a restaurant where they cooked kababs for John Abraham. The short appearance on Bigg Boss was a part of the promotion for John’s forthcoming film Kabul Express. Though the contestants are not supposed to be entertained in their stint at Bigg Boss’s house, they will however see Kabul Express this one time. The atmosphere was definitely different with Rakhi Sawant around. The inmates surely gave a hearty welcome to the drama queen! In spite of the pay hike that Rakhi asked for, Sony had to take her because of popular demand. Looks like she is going to win the show…

John's weak point...

Did you ever realize that Bollywood’s heartthrob John ever had a week point while being in Bollywood for all these years? Well even if you don’t agree with me it is a fact! John had a feeble command on Hindi and was therefore dubbed by professional artists. “I admit it was one of the areas that I needed to work doubly hard on. I’ve been consistently working on it. But Baabul truly made me confident of the way I speak my dialogues. First of all, the words were all in pure Hindi. Achala Nagar’s dialogues were a bit complex for all of us, except of course Mr Bachchan,” said John. “I had two options open in front of me. Either I asked the words to be simplified. Or I worked on the language. I opted for the latter. And believe me, if the impact of a role can be gauged by the spoken word, then Baabul is the most influential film of my life. It has changed my thought process. Now I’m actually able to think in Hindi,” he said. And the end result is that producers are actually willing to let John speak for his own voice on the silver screen after ‘Baabul’.

John gets a mega deal with adlabs!

Adlabs is sure roping in the hot and the favorite from Bollywood! Adlabs has now approached John Abraham for a three-movie contract worth Rs 22 crore. Though the contract has been finalized the dotted lines have not been signed officially by the hot favorite.

Adlab sources say,
“Adlabs had shortlisted a series of actors for this deal and John has emerged to be their unanimous choice. John’s choices of movies and his understanding of cinema makes him an easy choice for such an offer. He’s matured into a fine actor and his movie portfolio is remarkably impressive”.

Personal Quotes by John

"My greatest strength as an actor is that I follow my director's brief completely. The film is always the director's visual baby."

"I have no inhibitions when it comes to showing off my physique, but appearing nude on screen is out of the question. I don't need to resort to it and definitely not at this stage of my career."

John Abraham's sporting skills put to test...

John Abraham is less nervous and more excited about the fact that his sporting skills are being put to their ultimate test. The handsome actor is presently in London, shooting for Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal in which he plays a footballer.
Before shooting the film John and his co-star Arshad Warsi underwent rigorous training in football under the guidance of former English Premiere league footballer Andy Ansah and now, when the shooting is on, John’s footballing skills are being put to test because eight of the eleven players in his team (in the film) are actual football players and John has to stand out from them because of his role in the movie. But John is not intimidated by the presence of real footballers in his team. Football is his favourite game and he has been playing it since childhood. He is quite skilled in dribbling, nudging and kicking the ball.John says he is “overexcited” while shooting the film. Even his ladylove Bipasha Basu is beside him.

A script that made John Abraham cry!

The script of Nagesh Kukunoor’s forthcoming movie touched actor John Abraham so deeply that he broke down after reading it.Despite being one of the sought-after stars in Bollywood, John is pretty open to arty films that don’t exactly fit into the Bollywood mainstream bracket. He has already done Kabul Express (with Kabir Khan) and has completed the shooting of Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking .

Now, John as signed Nagesh Kukunoor ’s next movie Aashayein (Hopes) in which he plays a gambler. The film tells the story of a man who gambles his time and life away until he learns that he has very little time left to live. Kukunoor first narrated the story idea to John on a telephone when John was promoting ‘Water’ in Los Angeles. On the phone itself, John was so impressed by the movie’s concept that he gave his consent to Kukunoor. Later, when John read the movie’s script, he was so emotionally moved that he broke down while reading it. And it is learnt that John has read the script as many as five times and every time he was driven to tears. John will first complete Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal in London, before starting to shoot for ‘Aashayein’. Kukunoor plans to shoot the movie in Pondicherry. He’s yet to finalize John’s heroine in the film.

Water Finally Sees The Light Of Day In India

'Water' finally received the green light from the censors and is all set to be released in India. A press conference was held in Mumbai last week as a pre-cursor to the movie release.
'Water' is one of the most successful Hindi language films in North America - it has already brought in 5.6 million dollars at the US box office after it played in 150 theatres - in recent years but for Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, an Indian release for 'Water', is something she has waited for a long time. ''I am thrilled that the film will finally be able to be seen by Indian audiences,'' Mehta said at a press meet in the Capital recently where B R Films, 'Water's distributors in India, announced the date of the film's India release ( 9th March).
The film whipped up much controversy in India when Mehta began its shooting in Varanasi seven years ago which led to protests by fundamentalists forcing her to suspend shooting and abandon the project.
Chopra, however, said his decision to take up the release of the film in India was not impelled by the film winning an Oscar nomination. On the reason for B R Films taking up the release of the film in India when no other distributor was willing to take it up, Chopra said,'' it is a very cute film, a beautiful love story. It is a film, which has won accolades and box office success galore in the US and in this sense made India proud in the West. This is all the more reason why I felt people in India should see this film.''

John Leaves For The Oscars With....?

The D Day for Water at the Oscars arrived and John flew to U.S to walk the red carpet on the night of the 25th of February with his mom. WAIT…did I say ‘with his mom’? Well apparently it is true that the actor has preferred to take his mom to the gala night than his long time girl friend Bipasa Basu who is otherwise always seen holding his arm. Of course there is nothing wrong with taking one’s mother, in fact it is appreciative. But to totally brushing of the importance of Bipasha puts his rapport with the Dhoom girl under question. Not that I have been made to think like that by the media but his comment forces one to draw such conclusions. “I am going to the Oscars with Mom to make my luck stronger with her blessings. Bipasha is busy with her work, and why do you want her to come with me?”

John Not to Marry Soon!..

Bollywood hunk John Abraham has no plans yet to marry longtime girlfriend, sex-symbol Bipasha Basu, the actor said. While Bollywood’s golden couple Aishwarya Rai and Abishek Bachchan announced their engagement last month, the industry's other hottest couple have no plans to tie the knot, Abraham told the Times of India in an interview published on Thursday.
“Marriage is not on the cards for me,” said the model-turned actor.
“I am going to be the last guy standing,” he added. John, 33, has been dating Bipasha, 27 for several years. Despite being voted consistently as one of Bollywood's sexiest stars in movie polls, John insists he is a regular guy “I might be branded a cool dude but you will never find me trying to act cool and saying things like 'Yo man, wassup?’,” he told the paper.
“At the end of the day I am a simple man, wear simple clothes and have simple needs,” John said.

Why I Chose To Blog John?

John Abraham is the sexiest and hottest actor to land in Bollywood. I completly admire him and think that he has tremendous acting skills. He has managed to play diverse roles in all his movies and has showed the ability to act well in them all. He has done roles from a comedian to a villian, pyscho to being a hero and singer..!
He has managed to keep is personal life out of the limelight, which I give credit to as Bipasha and him are a total hot couple and it must be hard for them to be followed by the media all the time.
He is a very sweet and loyal person. He is completely in love with India (Mumbia), and its nice that he always mention this as it shows that he truly loves his hometown and it means a lot to him.

John's Calender...EXTREMLY HOT PICS!!

Zee Muzic unveiled its exclusive calendar featuring John Abraham as captured by Subi Samuel’s lens at Sejo and the Soul Dish on 11th December. John is the first Indian actor to have an entire calendar dedicated to him.

Rise To Fame

John Abraham, present hot star and teenage sensation of Bollywood, began his early years of education at the Bombay Scottish School. He did his Bachelors in Economics and then went on to do MMS from Mumbai Educational Trust (MET). He was working as a Media Planner at Enterprise-Nexus, an ad agency in Mumbai, when one day, a model ditched the shoot and his Boss suggested his name for doing the work. After that he got a hand full of offers and took up modeling as his career. His big break came in 1999, when he won the Glad Rags Manhunt Contest and went to Singapore for Manhunt International, where he won the second place. The half Keralite and half Iraninian, with his international looks, great body, innocent smile and down to earth personality easily became the highest paid supermodel in India.

He made his debut in Hindi films in 2003 with an erotic emotional movie 'Jism', which immediately pushed him into the public eye. The same year came the paranormal 'Saaya' (2003) and romantic 'Paap' (2003), both of them failed to click at the box-office. His first blockbuster hit was 'Dhoom' (2004), a thriller loosely based on the Hollywood flick the 'Fast and the Furious', in which he did his role of an evil guy convincingly. His next notable film was 'Madhoshi' (2004) where his screen presence and the credibility with which he plays Aman add vitality to the film.

In 2005, he did a lot of films- the list includes 'Elaan', 'Karam', 'Kaal', 'Viruddh', 'Water' and 'Garam Masala'. He acted well in 'Elaan' most of the time, but went overboard in sequences that demanded an outburst. He overcame this fault in his next film 'Karam', where he enacted the role of an assassin working for a mob boss, and made a sincere effort to live up to his role. In 'Kaal', he showed signs of a gifted actor and his performance bolstered his position in Bollywood. His next movie was 'Viruddh', with superstar Amitabh Bachchan, where he stood on his feet in every sequence.

Deepa Metha's 'Water', a film about the ill treatment of widows in the 1930s, was his next film where he played the role of an idealist lawyer and got wide international attention. Then he appeared in Priyadarshan's 'Garam Masala' where he made a very brave and largely honest attempt to play the clumsy but conniving pal convincingly. He came up with cool candour in some sequences. He followed his success in 2006 with memorable performances in 'Zinda' and 'Taxi No.9211'.

John takes special care of his physique and is considered to be a male sex symbol in Hindi Films. He has endorsed many products like Pepsi and now has his own apparel line John Abraham by Wrangler. A romantic at heart, he is involved with Bipasha Basu, fellow actress and believes in the celebration of life. John is crazy about bikes and goes riding whenever he gets a chance. Recently he was voted as the 'Sexiest actor in India' in a Durex Global Sex survey.

Background

Born in Mumbai, India on 17th December 1972 John Abraham is one of the most successful male models in India. His dad is a Christian from Aluva, Kerala and his mother is from Iran. Being a Catholic his father added the name 'Abraham' to his son John as a mark of respect to the first patriarch and progenitor of the Hebrew people in the Bible. That name gave him a noted stand when he entered the modeling field. His revolutionary looks, macho body, baby smiles and nice character made him the highest paid supermodel in India. Being a hot star in the modeling world, he made his film debut in 2003. Not like usual Bollywood heroes who debut in male oriented action subjects, he accepted the erotic emotional Jism (2003). Unfortunately the film didn't do well, but his work was noticed widely. Later the same year came the paranormal Saaya (2003) and romantic Paap (2003); none of them did well at the box-office. His first blockbuster smash hit came in the year 2004 when he took the antihero role 'Kabir' in Dhoom (2004).
